So, today, I want to tell you a little bit about what is going to be happening later this year for Allison Barnhill Designs. I have spent the last ten years growing this business from a tiny dream into a large, thriving stationery design company. I enjoy meeting new clients, getting to design their dream wedding stationery and seeing them return for invitations and more for so many life events. It really is a great honor for me.

But, recently, I’ve felt that being there for my business and clients has taken me away from the most important part of my life — my family. I’m at the studio all week and on Saturdays for meetings; at wedding shows on Sundays and I work at home too. I’ve missed a lot of karate matches and lacrosse games, and date nights typically involve a laptop.

So, I’ve decided that the best thing for me, my family and for Allison Barnhill Designs is to step away for some time, refocus and come back stronger, and maybe a little different too! During my time away, I want to be present with my family everyday — from checking spelling homework to big Sunday morning breakfast. I want date nights that don’t involve talking about work. I want to play with paper again…paint…read…take walks during the day. And, I’ll be taking a hard look at the wedding stationery industry and how Allison Barnhill Designs should fit into it going forward.

What does that mean? Simply put, I will not be taking any new work that delivers after September 25, 2013. I am happy to work on your save the dates, social stationery and even wedding invitations for delivery prior to that time, though! We have spots in our delivery schedule between now and then, so please email today to get started on your stationery. At this point, I’m not providing a date for my return, but I will share updates on the website, blog, Facebook, and my mailing list. If you haven’t signed up for the mailing list, you can do so here.

I would like to stress that I am not closing Allison Barnhill Designs.

Even after September 25th, the website, phone and email will remain active – so you can still reach me. We will be leaving our current location on Holiday Court – basically, because I don’t see the need to pay for a space that I won’t be going to everyday! But, I have this nifty studio already built into my house, so it works out nicely. And, I still plan to blog, be on social media and stay in touch during this time!

I’m sure that some of you will have questions and I would be happy to answer them!  I’m really looking forward to this new chapter in my life and I truly appreciate your support!
